Happy is the woman that has grandbabies and beautiful flowers

My Great Grandma Meyers favorite flowers were Iris and she called them Flags. They smell sweet and come in many colors.
Spending time with a 1 year old helps me remember the simple pleasures in doing things like running and playing in the sand.

1 week old Tyler loves his mommy and smiles when she talks to him. Oh such sweetness is good for my soul!

Taking it all in...those big baby blues!

What is making all that noise she is thinking...as the rattle gets her attention and diverts her gaze from her feet to the camera. At about 3 months old she will smile and coo and cuddle. Now getting ready to grab and play, everyday is an adventure to be shared....grandbaby and me!

Summer days are made for Grandkids!

I've been planning on taking a picture of the grandkids when we were all together and getting them all dressed up and taking the time to make it a wonderful photo with the right lighting and all that...then when we had the opportunity to all be together it was more fun spending the time playing with the grandkids....and just snapping a picture. We had a great time playing with Preston and Grace on the swings and watching Cody and Ally play ball with Preston running around with them. I wish I was as relaxed about everything with my kids as I am with the grandkids. Tomorrow will be soon enough to capture the perfect pictures...today we captured some perfect memories!

Morning with Great Grandma Clara

We had an adventure today! Grace went to Gold's gym daycare for the first time. The woman in charge held her the whole time and when I went to pick her up after 30 min. commented that Grace must be used to being held. I laughed and told her yes that as grandma I have been watching her during the day and she does get held a lot and many days takes a nap on my chest but that I'd been having her lay on a blanket now that she is getting older. We plan on visiting Grandma Clara every week this summer. Grandma Clara said today that she is going to give Grace the little ruby and diamond earrings I had bought one year for her birthday if her parents are okay with that and plan on getting her ears pierced. What a nice idea.

Miracle "ice cream"

It is a miracle! Low glycemic, Soy and Gluten free, Vegan non dairy frozen dessert. I guess it isn't ice cream but it tastes like rich ice cream. It is dark chocolate and I found it at our Fred Meyers in the specialty freezer. It is around $5 for a small container but so worth it! The other flavor is coconut. While I can't have this stuff every day it will be great to have a treat now and then and it fits all the doctors requirements!

Great Veggie Tacos

The doctor in Mexico put me on a very strict diet. It is gluten free, low glycemic, no soy, no dairy, mostly vegetarian with a little lean meat. So far I've lost 8 lbs this month on this diet. My goal is to reverse the damage to my body and find some Gluten free, Low Glycemic, No Soy, No Dairy, and YUMMY recipes that we will actually eat for the rest of my life.
These reminded me of Fish Tacos I had in Mexico or at Baja Fresh in Boise.
Recipe
Quarter a lime for squeezing on the tacos. Finely shred cabbage and onion. Cut grape tomatoes in half. Mash an avacado in a bowl and add 1 tsp. lemon juice and mix with fork. Fry two portabello mushrooms in olive oil sprinkling with Trader Joes 21 seasoning and reserve in bowl. Fry corn tortillia in skillet with olive oil. and drain on paper towels. Layer ingredients like a tostada. We liked these better than regular tacos and that is saying a lot! My husband prefers shredded romaine lettuce to cabbage.

Be Careful Little Eyes What You See

How to fix the economy

This is from an article in the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I think this guy nailed it! Dear Mr. President: Please find below my suggestion for fixing America's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan: There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations: 1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed! 2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered- Auto Industry fixed! 3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed! It can't get any easier than that! If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their Constituents pay their taxes... If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know. If not, please disregard.

Laughter is good medicine

One of the gifts from God is in the small moments... of a smile or laugh or giggle. As an amateur photographer it is a challenge to capture the photos that show emotion or a personality. God's word says that laughter is good medicine. Life is good.

Sad Day

My friend Candy died just as I thought I found her on Facebook. I'm so sad at not being able to touch base with her again as she was a sweet and fun friend from high school. Life is so short and I am at the fall of my life and I don't want to waste it.

A Friend

How do you find a friend
One that gives and cares
Whom do you trust
With your lifes afairs
Someone to share
All the mundane
Parts of Life and
Someone to enjoy
to giggle and smile
Someone to call
just to see how you are
Someone to listen to you
when you are feeling down
Caring for your feelings
Sharing the details
To know that you are not alone
This is a Friend!

Stimulas package

Since no one got a chance to read through the whole thing before voting on it I'd say Obama's stimulas package seems suspect...and the media protrayal of the first family is like a rock star...not a world leader. All of us know in our own budget what happens when you don't buckle down and stick to the budget but run up large debts....Maybe we better be planting a garden this year and stocking up on the basics.

Amazing Grace

Is there anything as amazing as a baby? I don't think I know of one. Spending the day with our newest grandbaby makes my morning something to look forward to, puts a smile on my face.

Super Bowl goodies

Paula Deen has the right idea with many "tapas", little appetisers so you can have a little of this and a little of that! Cresent rolls with cooked sausage that has been drained and cream cheese spread inside then rolled up and cooked is one of my favorites. Tortilla chips with layered dip is also a good snack. I like all the goodies on my dip with refried beans, grated cheese, salsa, lettuce finely chopped, olives topped with guacamole and sour cream. With the hot foods I like to serve some cool, crisp things like apples and celery. What are your favorites?

One of my treasures

Every home has a sense of the people that live there and I'm enjoying playing with the new vinyl lettering that is so popular these days. In my Sunday School class room we just put up the words "Do Hard Things" after a book that we are reading written by two young teenage men that talks about our low expectations for our children and how that affects us. We are also going to put up some vinyl verses so if you have any ideas leave a comment. One I'm thinking of is the one that goes...I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

swimming

Did you know that there are swim gloves that are webbed and give greater resistence to your workout. If I'm going to spend the time to work out/swim I'd like to get the greatest benefit from it! Anyone know of a good website to learn water aerobic moves that target the tummy area?

Weight Watcher Poem- Author unknown

Friday, January 9, 2009

A little weight watcher poem
When you have eaten too much and cant write it down when you feel like the biggest failure in town when you want to give up just because you gave in and forget all about being healthy and thin so, WHAT! You went over your points a bit its your next move that counts.... so don’t you quit. It’s a monment of truth, its an attitude change, Its learning the skills to get you back in the game. Its telling yourself, “You’ve done great until now. You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow.” Its part of the journey toward reaching your goal. You’re still going to make it, just stay in control. To stumble and fall is not a disgrace, if you summon the will to get back in the race. But, often the struggler’s, when losing their grip, just throws in the towel and continues to slip. And learn too late after the damage is done, that the race wasn’t over and they still could have won. Lifestyle changes can be awarkard and slow, but facing each challenge will help you grow. Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint in a cloud of doubt. When you are pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit. If you bite it you write it... And don’t you quit.Author unknown

a) doing hand motions to itsy bitsy spider
b) ordering some "tea please"
c) saying "cheeese" from her favorite Wallace and Gromit movie
d) none of the above
